Gemma - vocal ensemble for medieval music Musical director: Karin Strinnholm Lagergren The vocal ensemble Gemma specialises on medieval vocal music mainly from Scandinavian sources but also perform church music from the earliest Western polyphonic repertoire from the 12th and 13th centuries. The repertoire is mostly based on the ensemble's own research in archives and libraries. They also work with other early music ensembles such as Diabolus in Musica, Dialogos, Musica Ficta, Laude Novella and have performed in numerous Europeian countries. The ensemble also collaborates with museums in order to illustrate exhibitions and create soundscapes. Their music can be heard at the exhibitions Sveriges historia (History of Sweden) at the National Historical Museum in Stockholm and Skaramissalet och andra medeltida handskrifter (The Skara Missal and other medieval manuscripts) at Visitor Center in Skara. Gemma also hold courses in medieval vocal music. Gemma, (Latin) : gem, jewel |
